Blooming Words
> Application Instructions
Applying your new Blooming Words is fun and easy! Please follow the steps as outlined below. Although the process is quite simple, the vinyl product is only able to be transferred one time.
The instructions refer to a wall application, but the same principles apply to tile, wood, doors, mirrors or glass.
Tools you will need:
Level, pencil, painter's blue masking tape, semi-rigid rubbing tool with smooth edges (a credit card or popsicle stick), step stool or ladder. We recommend you remain eye level with your vinyl while applying.
1. Make sure your application surface is clean. Dust, oil or lint will all prevent the vinyl from adhering to your surface. We recommend that painted walls cure for three weeks prior to any vinyl transfer.
2. Lay your vinyl project face up on a hard, flat surface. Using your rubbing tool, rub the surface of the transfer tape (the top surface protecting your letters) from the middle to the outside edges. This step will eliminate pesky air bubbles and ensure that the vinyl is stuck to the back side of the transfer tape.
3. Using a level, align your artwork on the wall and tape the corners to secure.
4. Keeping the vinyl packet in tact, tape the top edge to your wall, creating a hinge.
5. Fold the project up and peel off the waxy backing off of the project. If any vinyl lifts off with the backing, carefully place the project back together and rub over the top surface again until the vinyl adheres to the transfer paper.
6. Discard the backing material.
7. Carefully place the transfer tape with attached vinyl to your wall.
8. Smooth the transfer tape first with your hands and then with your rubbing tool. Work from the center of the project outward. Rub each character completely to transfer the vinyl from the transfer paper to the wall. The wall surface will determine ow firmly you must press (textured surfaces require more detailed rubbing.) Never press so hard that you damage the transfer paper surface or the vinyl underneath.
9. Peel off blue masking tape and discard.
10. Beginning at a corner, slowly pull the transfer tape off of the wall at a diagonal. If any vinyl does not stick to the new surface, replace that section of transfer tape and rub the characters again. Continue this process until all of the transfer tape is removed and your Blooming Words are adhered to your wall.
11. Take a step back, admire and enjoy your new Blooming Words!
Removal of Vinyl Transfer
Once your vinyl is removed, it cannot be reused. To remove your vinyl, use a hairdryer to gently warm the vinyl and then peel off of your wall with tweezers. If any residue remains, use a small amount of rubbing alcohol to clean the surface. The vinyl transfer is non-intrusive on your wall. However, as with any type of art work, direct sunlight or extended placement may cause the paint not covered by the artwork to fade.
Application Surfaces
Any smooth, non-porous surface will accept a vinyl transfer. Examples would include sheetrock or plaster walls, tile, glass, doors or smooth wood.
Surfaces that are unacceptable for vinyl transfer include highly textured walls, painted walls that have not cured for a minimum of three weeks, rough or uneven surfaces such as brick, cinder block or stucco. Very cold surfaces will not allow the vinyl to initially adhere.
